Money To Spend But No One To Spend It On

[December 7th] -- The worst fears of the Nationals are becoming reality. A. J. Burnett said that D.C. ownership and stadium issues played a huge part in his not signing with Washington. Bowden's plan 'B,' according to the Post, is to make an offer to just about anyone else still available. Thus far, there have been no takers. Whispers in the corridors in Dallas indicate that both free agents and their agents say that the team isn't being taken very seriously, that they entered the bidding to late, and with far too little to offer.

Bowden said that the Nats are still looking to acquire Juan Pierre, but if the deal is to happen, it must be part of a three team trade. Only when and if this deal falls through will he consider the Terrmel Sledge for Dave Roberts trade that was rumored on Tuesday.
